Did
you sing 'Be Kind to Your Web-footed Friends' as a kid? I chuckled
when I saw take me out of the bathtub and other silly dilly songs
by Alan Katz and illustrated by David Catrow, then laughed even
harder when I read (and hummed) the book.
While
a bit late for this Christmas season, you can still sing the songs
from Where did they hide my presents? (to the tune of "Rudolph
the Red-Nosed Reindeer), by Alan Katz and illustrated by David
Catrow. If you are a fan of the Nutcracker Ballet, don't miss the
song about the sugarplum fairy!
For
lots of information on fun and crazy songs try The Golden Age of
Novelty Songs, by
Steve Otfinoski. Who wrote what and when (and sometimes why). A bit
dry, I thought, in places, but overall an interesting read.
And
finally, an old favorite, found here in book form: Hello Muddah,
Hello Faddah! (A Letter From Camp) by Allan Sherman and Lou Busch
and illustrated by Jack E. Davis. I remember listening to this on the
radio.
